Terms & Conditions

General

  • Clients are required to complete a booking form giving details of their vet and any relevant detail of their pets.
  • Information given in the initial registration form will be used for all subsequent bookings unless we are notified that there has been a change in your pet’s condition or requirements.
  • If you book us for Dog Walking Service please note that we allow dogs off lead only with your permission and after your dog has demonstrated excellent and consistent recall.
  • We will not feed deep chested dogs in the hour presiding or after a walk because of the risk to your dog of gastric torsion.
  • In the event of personal emergency or illness of Pet Sitter, client authorizes PetSpot to arrange for another qualified pet sitter to fulfill responsibilities. Client will be notified in such a case.

2-hour time window

When booking a pet sit or dog walk we reserve the right to arrive within a 2-hour window. When you book a visit for 12.00 we may arrive anytime between 11.00-13.00.

This does not apply to dog training, pickup/return services since those require both parties to meet at a precise time chosen by the client.

Cancellations

  • The client may terminate the booking a minimum of 72 hours prior to the first scheduled visit without incurring penalties or damages.
  • Failure by the client to cancel by giving the minimum notice required or any cancellation during recognized holiday periods will result in a 20% cancellation fee of the total amount due, unless such cancellation is caused by severe weather, death in the family or a medical emergency.
  • Cancellation is accepted either by telephone or in writing from the client.
  • If client cancels within the given notice period they may choose to keep the balance in the system for the next booking.

Duty of Care

  • PetSpot highly respects the client’s trust with the care of their pet and where necessary, having access to the clients property.
  • PetSpot will utilize its skill and knowledge to ensure the standards of care provided to the pets and any property is appropriate.
  • Any change in a pet’s routine and circumstances can cause varying degrees of distress and unpredictable or abnormal behaviour, particularly if their owner is on holiday. Pets have no concept or ability to understand their owners absence is temporary and they will be coming back. PetSpot understands this and will offer comfort and reassurance whilst trying, as far as is practically possible to maintain their normal daily routines.
  • In the event of extreme weather which may have an adverse effect on your pet e.g. heat or thunder storms, PetSpot, at our sole discretion, shall take whatever action we considers necessary, including not carrying our scheduled exercise until it is, in our opinion, safe to do so.

Aggressive or Unsociable Animals

  • In the event of a pet’s behaviour exceeding what would be considered normal or acceptable towards people or other animals, or become a nuisance beyond reasonable acceptance, the client agrees that the pet be placed either with the emergency contact or in a boarding kennel, until the client returns, and this will be subject to a transfer charge and any additional fees. However we do have our own dog trainers and can offer training while client is away.
  • PetSpot will not be liable for any refund of fees paid, where the behaviour is not specified within the relevant section of the booking form.

Necessities

  • PetSpot will properly dispose of pet waste, however the client shall ensure there is an appropriate supply of bags for that purpose, and indicate their preferred method / location of disposal.
  • The client shall provide sufficient food, medicine, cat litter and any treats for their pet for the duration of the service.
  • The client shall provide secure collars with name / address tags and leads.
  • The client should leave their thermostat settings within a normal comfortable range. If the house temperature is outside of this range, PetSpot will adjust the thermostat to ensure the health and comfort of your pet.

House Cleanliness

  • PetSpot will keep the clients house, pet and pet equipment in a clean and tidy state as found and will only provide services agreed specifically and listed in the service agreement.
  • PetSpot shall clean up after your pet to the best of its ability.
  • The client shall make available cleaning materials in the event of any ‘accidents’ within their property.
  • The client shall show PetSpot the location of appropriate cleaning materials, including but not limited to plastic bags, disposable gloves, towels, disinfectant, paper towels and bin bags.
  • PetSpot will charge an additional €5 fee for cleaning up after pets where the time or number of occurrences exceeds what would be considered to be acceptable or in the case of major accidents i.e. diarrhea or got into the rubbish bin.

Medication

  • It shall be the client’s sole responsibility to ensure PetSpot is fully aware of any health issues the pet is experiencing, or has suffered in the past. PetSpot cannot be held liable for any actions or omissions which result in problems or complications for anything not disclosed by the client.
  • PetSpot shall follow instruction given within the booking form and, if applicable, medication form but cannot be held liable for any complications which may arise.
  • In the event of a pet having a contagious disease which has not been disclosed, the client may be liable for the costs of treatment given to other animals which become infected if same Pet Sitter visits them without knowing about the infection risk.
  • If anyone from the PetSpot family is bitten or exposed to any disease or ailment received from the clients pet which has not been properly or currently vaccinated, the client will be responsible for all costs and damages that may be incurred as a result.
  • Flea and worming treatment must be up to date. In the event of a flea or worm infestation, PetSpot will treat the pet at the client’s expense.
  • All pets are to be currently vaccinated.

Supplies

  • Clients must provide all food and items of equipment necessary for pet care during their time of absence.
  • In the event that items need to be purchased to enable PetSpot to properly perform its duties as insufficient quantities were left by the client, or it is considered necessary in the interests of the health and wellbeing of the pet, the client shall reimburse PetSpot upon production of a receipt for the items plus a €3 shopping charge.

Change of Details

  • Please inform PetSpot of any changes regarding your contact numbers, your pet care needs, your emergency contact details and any other relevant information.
  • It shall be the clients sole responsibility to ensure the information provided to PetSpot is current and up to date. The client agrees to accept any decision made by PetSpot in the event of not being able to contact the client as a result of wrong information held. If PetSpot is subjected to any expenditure as a results of the decision, that expenditure shall be recoverable from the client. Please inform PetSpot of any errors made on the Booking Form so these can be amended or please request a new form.

Emergencies

  • An emergency contact must be provided by the client who can make a decision relating to the clients pet or home in an emergency. If this contact is unavailable, PetSpot reserves the right to consult a veterinarian and make decisions in the best interest of the pet and the client’s home.
  • In the event of a household emergency the client in the first instance, or the client’s emergency contact will be contacted to arrange any remedial work.

Fences and Cat Flaps

  • It is recommend that cats are kept indoors to ensure their health and safety while in the care of PetSpot.
  • PetSpot does not accept any responsibility or liability for any client’s animals that escape or become lost or injured, fatal or otherwise, when instructed to leave the client’s animals in a fenced area. This includes electric, wood, metal or any other type of fence, or in premises that contain an unlocked cat flap.

Injuries

  • We cannot be held liable for any theft or damage to your property or injury/illness to your animal unless we can shown to be negligent.
  • The client will indemnify PetSpot against any damage or injury caused by the pet towards any property, person or other animal, this will include, but is not limited to veterinary, medical and legal fees.
  • We will not be liable for any damage or injury caused by your animal unless we can shown to be negligent.
  • Should the pet sitter be bitten or otherwise exposed to any disease or received from the client’s animal which has not been properly and currently vaccinated, it will be the client’s responsibility to pay all costs and damages incurred by the victim.
